This savory vegan pesto is perfect for pizza. Nutritional yeast adds a “cheesy” flavor, and pine nuts add a nutty flavor.

When I made this Pizza with Spinach Pesto I was craving pizza with pesto, but I didn’t have any fresh basil. Instead, I added basil olive oil. You would never know there is no fresh basil in this recipe. The nutritional yeast adds a nice texture, and the pecans and walnut oil add a yummy richness to the pesto. I have tried only a few gluten free pizza crusts – mostly frozen premade ones. Then I found a package mix that you add olive oil and water to. After mixing you cook just the crust so it gets crispy. Then you add your ingredients and cook again. So far, it is the best gluten free crust I have tried. It is called Namaste pizza mix.

Makes enough for 2 7 ½ ” pizzas
- 6 cups spinach
- 3 tablespoons pine nuts
- 3 tablespoons pecans
- 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 teaspoons basil extra virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons roasted walnut oil
- 1/4 cup parsley
- Mix all ingredients in a food processor.
