I chose this quote for my Inspirational Quote of the Week because it was the quote that stuck out to me today. I know quite a few people who have retired in the last few years, and one thing is always apparent - they are never bored. When I left my career a little over two years ago I was asked how I planned on spending my time. Many people thought I would be bored.
Bored? Really! I have so many things that I love to do that I don't have enough hours in the day to do all of them. Now that I am not working, I feel a sense of freedom. I get to wake up every morning and decide how I am going to spend my day. I get to follow my passions, like work (play, really) on Create Mindfully. Since starting this blog in November, I have grown in so many ways. I have learned more than I thought I would starting an endeavor like this, especially the behind the scenes computer stuff. I am more creative in my cooking, and I am taking more photos than I have in ages.
There was a time when I put my passions on hold. I was too tired and burnt out from my job to pursue them. I was suffocating my soul by doing so. Yes, that is an overly dramatic thing to say, but it is true. I don't do that anymore.
Now I am going to let you in on a little secret. Even though my Inspirational Quote of the Week series is to inspire all of you, it is also to inspire me. Whatever quote I am drawn to each week is the quote that I need at that time. I always try to pair the quote with one of my photos that in my eyes goes with the quote. So now you know - the inspiration is for me just as much as it is for you.
I still struggle to find balance in my life. This quote has inspired me to paint this week. Painting is one of my first loves. I am still creating on a daily basis, but I need to get back to my painting, and maybe post a little less so that I can try to strike that balance that we all strive for.
Here's to you finding balance, and pursuing those things that you are passionate about!
