I chose this quote for my Inspirational Quote of the Week because of all the conversations that I have endured out of necessity. Yes, I have been guilty of making small talk; of talking about events and people. Sometimes it is necessary because you know the person you are engaging in conversation with is not receptive to your ideas.
What I find really fulfilling is when I engage with other like minded people. Those are the times my heart sings; when I get to talk about ideas close to my heart. Those are the people I want in my life because our conversations are meaningful and visionary.
Take a look at your friendships and acquaintances and pay attention to the types of conversations you are having. Do the conversations make you feel energized, leaving you wanting more? Or do the conversations make you feel drained and tired?
Ever since leaving an unfulfilling career of eight years, I have looked at my life differently. I no longer spend time doing things I don’t want to do. I strive to live each day with purpose and passion. I am much choosier in how I spend my time, and who I spend it with. Spending time with some people can drain your energy, if you let it. Why do that to yourself?
