How to Make Sun-Dried Tomatoes

Here is an easy tutorial for how to make sun-dried tomatoes. They are perfect when you have a bunch of tomatoes that need using up. Add them to pizza or other recipes.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds tomatoes - I used Roma, but you could use any variety

Instructions

  • Cut tomatoes in approx. ¼" slices. If you are using cherry or plum, cut in half.
  • Dehydrate at 110° for 24 - 48 hours, depending on the type and size of the tomatoes. You can dehydrate these until fully dried, or somewhat chewy, depending on how you want to use them.
  • Serve on pizza, in a dip, on a salad, or any other way you normally use the store bought sun-dried tomatoes.

Notes

This is the dehydrator I have. You can control the temperature, and it has a ton of space.  Mine has 5 racks, but they come in other sizes as well.
