This healthy Blueberry Chia Jam is packed with nutrition! It is thickened with chia seeds and made with very little sweetener.
Minutes to Make
I haven't gotten into canning yet, so a recipe like this Blueberry Chia Jam is perfect for me. This literally takes minutes to throw together, then you let it set for about thirty minutes to thicken.
It is the fastest way that I know of to make jam, and I love using chia seeds because of their health benefits. They are loaded with omega-3s, fiber, and protein.
Control the Ingredients
Another reason that I like to make chia jam is I can control the ingredients. I use agave syrup, but in the amount that I want. If your blueberries are really sweet, you may not want to add any sweetener at all.
If you have fruit that is about to expire, this is a great way to use it up. A cup and a half condenses down to a little less than 8 ounces.
Chia Seeds
If you haven't tried chia seeds yet, I highly recommend it. They are not only packed with nutrition, but they are extremely versatile as well.
They become gelatinous when you add liquid to them, so they are perfect to use as an egg substitute when baking, or to make pudding out of.
They even work well in crackers. I used chia seeds for one of my batches of Pizza Crackers and flax seeds for another. I also like to add them to overnight oats and smoothies.

For Keto, could we just use a tsp of monk fruit or swerve? Thanks!
Willow Moon says
You definitely could, then you will need to heat the mixture on the stove to get the sweetener to dissolve.

This looks like the perfect spread for all the summer fruit that's threatening to expire in my fridge right now! I've not tried chia seeds in jam but I think I'm going to have to! I've pinned this too - thanks!
Willow Moon says
Thanks Jen! I think it's a great way to use up fruit because it condenses down so much making it more manageable! And if you add in a little lemon juice it will last even longer!

It works with pretty much any fruit. I have only made raspberry, blueberry and strawberry so far myself.
