Making your own bubble tea at home is easy and saves money. This Coconut Bubble Tea is sweet, coconutty, and made with only a few ingredients.

This Coconut Bubble Tea takes regular black tea to a whole new level. It's fun to drink, and is a lot cheaper than buying at your local café.
You just need an oversized boba straw to suck up the chewy tapioca pearls. It's great for entertaining, and the perfect pick-me-up.

🧾 Ingredients

- Tapioca boba: Tapioca balls are the common type of topping for boba tea. You could use another type.
- Black tea: I drink black tea daily so I used that. You could also use green tea.
- Soy milk: I used soy milk because that's what I happened to have on hand, but you could use oat milk or any non-dairy milk you like.
- Coconut simple syrup: To soak the boba in and add coconut flavor.
- Coconut milk: To add more coconut flavor. I used full-fat coconut milk.
- Water

🔪 Instructions

Step 1: Add water to a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then add tapioca boba.

Step 2: Cook 30 minutes, stirring constantly.

Step 3: Strain tapioca boba into a bowl. Add coconut simple syrup and let sit 15-20 minutes. Set aside.

Step 4: Add water to a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then remove from the heat and add black tea bags. Steep 5-7 minutes and remove tea bags. To serve scoop ¼ cup tapioca boba into two glasses. Top with tea, soy milk, coconut milk, and extra coconut simple syrup.
🥡 Storage
If you don't use all the cooked boba, store it in the coconut simple syrup mixture for up to 3 days. The coconut bubble tea will last 3 days in the fridge.

Coconut Bubble Tea
Ingredients
Boba
- ½ cup tapioca boba
- 3 cups water
- ½ cup coconut simple syrup
Tea
- 2 black tea bags
- 1 cup water
For Serving
- ½ cup full-fat coconut milk
- ½ cup soy milk
Instructions
Boba
- Add water to a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, then add tapioca boba. Cook 30 minutes, stirring constantly. (Cooking time will vary depending on the type of boba you get - check directions on package.)
- Pour tapioca boba into a fine mesh strainer into a bowl.
- Add coconut simple syrup. Let marinate 15-20 minutes.
Tea
- Add water to a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and add tea bags. Let steep 5-7 minutes.
For Serving
- Scoop ¼ cup tapioca boba into each into two glasses. Top with tea, soy milk, coconut milk, and a little coconut simple syrup, if desired.
