Earl Grey is my favorite tea, and this London Fog Tea Latte is a great way to have it. It's a nice pick-me-up in the morning or early afternoon.

This vegan latte is smooth and creamy with hints of citrus from the Earl Grey tea. Earl Grey tea is black tea with oil of bergamot, which adds a citrus note.

    ❤️ Why You'll Love It

    • This homemade London Fog Latte is smooth and creamy with hints of bergamot.
    • It's a nice alternative to your morning coffee.
    • This homemade version is cheaper than at your local coffee shop.
    • It is made in minutes. Add ice for an iced London fog tea latte.

    🧾 Ingredients

London Fog drink ingredients on a cutting board with labels.
    • Earl Grey tea bag: Earl Grey tea is traditionally used in a London Fog Latte. You could also use loose leaf tea and a tea strainer.
    • Maple syrup: Adds sweetness. You could also use agave syrup, sugar, or your sweetener of choice.
    • Vanilla extract: Enhances flavors. You could also use vanilla syrup and skip the maple syrup. Lavender syrup and my best chai syrup would also be a great addition.
    • Soy milk: I used soy milk because it froths nicely. You could also use almond milk, coconut milk, oat milk, or your favorite dairy-free milk of choice.
    • Cinnamon: Adds a warm spice flavor.

    🔪 Instructions

Tea bag in a saucepan with water.

Step 1: In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Turn off the heat and add a tea bag to the boiling water. You could also heat the water in a microwave.

Vanilla extract being poured into a cup of Earl Grey tea.

Step 2: Pour the tea into a mug and add vanilla extract.

Maple syrup being poured into a coffee mug with tea.

Step 3: Add maple syrup into the mug and stir.

Soy milk being shaken in a mason jar.

Step 4: If you don't have a handheld milk frother or electric frother, you can froth soy milk by shaking soy milk in a mason jar.

Frothy milk being poured into cup of tea.

Step 5: Pour frothed soy milk over the tea. Spoon foam on top.

How To Froth Soy Milk Without A Milk Frother

You can blend soy milk in a high speed blender or shake it in a mason jar. I prefer the mason jar because it's easy and there's less to wash.

Just pour your warm or hot milk into the jar. I use a plastic lid that just happens to fit mason jars, but you can use the lid that comes with the jar - you just may need to hold a towel over it if it isn't secure enough.

Then, shake vigorously. Pour the frothed milk over the drink, then spoon the foam on top.

    💭 Tips

    • Do NOT use a Nutribullet to blend hot soy milk. It doesn't do well with hot liquids. If you want to use it, blend cold soy milk, then heat the soy milk.
    • I used soy milk because it froths nicely. You can use any plant-based milk you like.
    • Taste it to see if you want more sweetener. I didn't add much because I felt the bergamot oil in the Earl Grey tea added a nice flavor.
