After making my Chocolate Peanut Butter Overnight Oats, I knew I was hooked on a new breakfast routine. I happen to have some frozen cherries in my freezer, so I decided to make these Chocolate Cherry Overnight Oats. I love both combinations of flavors. Of course, anything with chocolate, and I am all in! Overnight oats are wonderful because they are easy to make, fill you up for hours, and are perfect for traveling.
I am sure that I will be experimenting with other flavors in the future, but for now the two flavors I’ve made are going to keep me hooked for awhile. I love the chocolate peanut butter combination because it has the extra boost of protein, which keeps me full longer. I did add chia seeds to both for some protein as well. From now on whenever I go camping this will be my go-to breakfast, unless it is really cold in the morning. In that case I will be making my Tofu Scramble.
By the way, I used an 8 oz.mason jar so that this would be photo worthy, but you do not want that small of a jar. I made this in a 12 oz. jar, then moved them into the 8 oz. jar so that it would be filled to the top (and look pretty).
Chocolate Cherry Overnight Oats
- 1/4 cup cherries – fresh or frozen
- 1/2 cup gluten free oats
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon cacao (or cocoa powder)
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup
- 1/2 cup soymilk or almond milk
- Put cherries in a 12 oz. mason jar, and mash the cherries a bit to release the juice.
- Add other ingredients on top. Stir to combine. Let sit overnight in the refrigerator.
