    Vegan Banana Ice Cream

    This Vegan Banana Ice Cream is an easy healthy treat. Made with frozen bananas and topped with a chocolate peanut butter sauce, it is sweet and rich!

    Freezing bananas and making Vegan Banana Ice Cream is one of the easiest and healthiest desserts you can make. Chocolate Peanut Butter Sauce elevates this banana nice cream to another level.

    Customize it to your liking. Raspberry Compote is another topping that tastes great with bananas.

    You could also add vegan whipped cream, caramel sauce, or hot fudge.

    ❄️ How To Freeze Bananas

    Wait until the bananas are ripe. Peel and either slice or break the ripe bananas in two. Place banana slices or halves in a freezer bag or freezer-safe container.

    If you buy organic bananas, a great way to use up those banana peels is in Banana Peel Curry. You'd never know you're eating banana peels!

    They will last several months in the freezer, but I like to use them up within a few weeks to a month of freezing them. They start to darken and get freezer burn the longer they're in the freezer.

    Vegan Banana Ice Cream

    • Frozen bananas: I like to keep frozen bananas in my freezer at all times. Once they're ripe, peel them and place them in a freezer-safe container in the freezer.

    Chocolate Peanut Butter Sauce

    • Cacao powder (or cocoa powder): Adds a chocolate flavor.
    • Peanut butter: I used all-natural peanut butter, but you could also use shelf-stable peanut butter.
    • Maple syrup: Adds sweetness. You could also use agave syrup or date paste.
    • Soy milk: You could use any dairy-free milk or even water.
    • Vanilla extract: Enhances flavors.
    • Salt: Enhances sweetness.

    Vegan Banana Ice Cream: Mix frozen bananas in a food processor, stopping to scrape down edges, until creamy.

    Chocolate Peanut Butter Sauce

    Step 1: Add all ingredients into a blender.

    Step 2: Mix until smooth and creamy.

    • Cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
    • Chocolate hazelnut spread
    • Nut butter
    • Strawberry, raspberry, or other berries
    • Pineapple, mango for a Tropical Sorbet
    • Coconut milk or plant-based milk
    • Vanilla extract, almond extract, mint extract

    • Chocolate chips
    • Chocolate syrup
    • Vegan caramel sauce
    • Vegan butterscotch sauce
    • Vegan whipped cream
    • Cherries

    Do frozen bananas taste like ice cream?

    Yes and no. Blended frozen bananas have a wonderful creamy consistency and natural sweetness.
    The texture is similar to soft-serve ice cream, but they aren't as sweet as store-bought ice cream.

    Vegan Banana Ice Cream

    • 4 frozen bananas

    Chocolate Peanut Butter Sauce

    • ¼ cup cacao powder or cocoa powder
    • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
    • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
    • ½ cup soy milk or other non-dairy milk
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Pinch salt

    Vegan Banana Ice Cream

    • Blend frozen bananas in a food processor or high speed blender, stopping to scrape down the edges. Blend until creamy.

    Chocolate Peanut Butter Sauce

    • Pour over banana ice cream.

    Notes

    This banana ice cream recipe will last 6 months in a freezer-safe container in the freezer.
    The chocolate peanut butter sauce will last 5 days in an airtight container in the fridge.
