After you find the base that works for you, it's easy to create other flavors!
Kalamata Olive Hummus can be used in so many ways. Use this creamy spread on sandwiches or as a dip.
It's done in about 5 minutes. Since you can make it ahead of time, it's perfect for a party.
Homemade hummus is cheaper than store-bought hummus and it is easy to make, so there's no reason not to make your own hummus. Other creamy hummus recipes are my Dill Pickle Hummus recipe and Caramelized Onion Hummus recipe.

โค๏ธ Why You'll Love It
- It is creamy with a salty briny olive flavor. It's perfect for olive lovers.
- It makes a great quick snack. Eat it with carrot sticks, pita chips, or slices of red peppers.
- It's made with simple ingredients you probably already have on hand.
๐งพ Ingredients
- Chickpeas (garbanzo beans): Canned chickpeas add the creamy texture and flavor that hummus is known for.
- Tahini: Another classic ingredient in hummus. Adds a nutty flavor.
- Olive oil: Adds creaminess.
- Fresh lemon juice: Adds a bright tart flavor.
- Kalamata olives: Adds a briny flavor. You could use green olives or another variety of black olives.
- Garlic: Adds a pungent flavor.
- Water
- Salt: Enhances flavors. I like to use sea salt.

๐ช Instructions
Step 1: Add garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, Kalamata olives, water (optional), and salt to a food processor.
Step 2: Mix until smooth and until creamy.
๐ญ Tips
- You may want to taste the hummus after adding ยผ cup of Kalamata olives to see how you like it and add more to your liking. I personally love the briny olives so I added a lot.
- The same goes for adding salt. The saltiness of the olives may be enough salt for some people.
- I included water as optional because the olives add liquid, and if you use it right away you won't need any water. If you use it after it sits in the fridge overnight it will thicken up a little.
๐ฝ Serving
- with a vegan charcuterie board
- on a sandwich
- with veggies
- with pita chips or pita bread (if you find a good vegan gluten free brand let me know!)
