Are you vegan and gluten free and miss everything bagels? These Everything Bagel Flax Crackers may not satisfy your bagel craving, but they may satisfy your everything seasoning craving!
It has been quite a few years since I have had a bagel (sad face). Since becoming gluten free a few years ago, I have had to avoid bagels.
If I find a brand that is gluten free and vegan, I will be a happy camper. (Being that the bagel tastes good, of course.) My goal is to make gluten free bread one of these months.
Aah, the everything bagel, how I miss thee...
Fellow gluten free vegans, if you're missing the everything bagel, I have the solution - Everything Bagel Flax Crackers! They have the same "everything" mix, but in a healthier package.
Who doesn't love crackers, right?! No, they aren't going to satisfy your bagel craving, but they will satisfy your salty everything seasoning craving.
After soaking the flax seeds with some minced garlic, I sprinkled the everything seasoning mix on top of the crackers. You could also mix them with the soaked flax seeds.
I put the seasoning on top because I wanted the same look you get with the everything bagel - everything on top.

Recipe
These flax crackers with everything bagel seasoning are a savory, healthy snack. They are raw because they are dehydrated at a low temperature.

Here's the dehydrator that I have. It's perfect for making these crackers as well as other raw recipes.
📋 Recipe
Everything Bagel Flax Crackers
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 ½ cups water
- ¾ cup golden flax seeds
- ¼ cup brown flax seeds
- 3 teaspoons poppy seeds
- 3 teaspoons sesame seeds
- 3 teaspoons onion flakes
- 3 teaspoons garlic flakes
- 3 teaspoons sea salt
Instructions
- In a blender or Nutribullet blend garlic in water. Pour over flax seeds. Soak for about four hours. Mixture will become gelatinous.
- Spread mixture onto a Teflon sheet - about ⅛" to ¼" thick. Score the mix with a knife making lines in the crackers to make squares.
- Mix all the spices in a bowl except sea salt (it will sink to the bottom of the bowl). Sprinkle everything mix on top of crackers. Then sprinkle sea salt on top.
- Dehydrate at 110° for 24 hours, or until crispy.

These look great! But what is that creamy looking dip??
Willow Moon says
That was actually an everything bagel dip recipe that didn't work out. I needed a dip for the photo, so I used it even though the recipe needs tweaking.

Question, do you have any idea about how to make these in an oven since I don't have a dehydrator?
Willow Moon says
You could bake them at the lowest setting. I don't know how long they would need to bake for, so it's a matter of keeping an eye on them.

I LOVE these! They are great for those of us cutting down on carbs. I disagree with Liz that there's too much salt. I think these have just the right amount of seasonings. I have made everything bagel seasoning for other recipes and the norm is about this amount of salt or even more.
Liz says
The salt amount needs adjusted (like, cut in HALF).These were so insanely salty that I literally spit them out and threw it all away. Very disappointed. 🙁
Willow Moon says
I am so sorry that you didn't like them. Normally I don't put salt amounts because everyone's taste buds are different.

I made these over the weekend. Sooooo yummy. I'm doing a cleanse and cannot have gluten or nuts. This totally satisfied my crunchy salty craving 🙂
Willow Moon says
Thanks, I am so glad that you liked them!

How long will these crackers stay crunchy in a tight lid jar? I want to make them as Christmas gifts along with other treats.
Willow Moon says
They last a few months while staying crunchy, although they don't taste as fresh.

I don't have a dehydrator but really want to make this. Can it be done in the oven? If so, what temp and how long? Thanks so much!
Willow Moon says
I actually haven't made them in the oven myself, but have heard other people do it at the lowest temperature in the oven, so I know it can be done. I would say to keep an eye on them, checking them every hour or two. I am guessing it will take a few hours or more.
rob says
yes this works just fine in the oven at 300* for about 2.5-3 hours ! 🙂
