"What a wonderful combination of flavors! It was delicious! - Jane"

A while back I went to an Indian restaurant for my birthday. On the menu was Chipotle Mint Lemonade.

I love chipotle in adobo, so I was intrigued. It was fabulous! I knew I had to create it at home.

The combination is so good! It is sweet, smoky, and minty. Another sweet and spicy recipe is my Lemon Kombucha with Cayenne.

It makes a great cocktail too. After tasting it as a lemonade, I added some vodka.

Other lemonade recipes to try are my Lemonade with Lavender and my Blender Mango Lemonade. A limeade recipe to try is my Homemade Strawberry Limeade.

A chipotle recipe to try is my Maple Chipotle Black Bean Lettuce Wraps.

    ❤️ Why You'll Love It

    • It is sweet and spicy.
    • It's made in minutes.
    • It is a nice alternative to classic lemonade.

    🧾 Ingredients

Ingredients on a cutting board with labels.
    • Chipotle powder: You could also use the adobo sauce that chipotle chilis come in or crushed chipotle chili.
    • Lemon juice: Fresh lemon juice is best. I do not recommend store-bought lemon juice because it contains additives.
    • Mint: I used fresh mint. Growing your own mint is an inexpensive way to have constant access to mint. I've had success growing mint plants in the past.
    • Agave syrup: Adds sweetness. You could also use maple syrup or simple syrup. A couple of simple syrup recipes that may taste great in this lemonade are Vanilla Simple Syrup and Chocolate Simple Syrup.
    • Water

This is an overview of the ingredients. To see the full list of ingredients with measurements and instructions, see the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

    🔪 Instructions

Mint leaves, agave syrup, and chipotle powder being muddled.

Step 1: Muddle chipotle powder, mint, and agave syrup to break up the mint leaves.

Chipotle mint mixture being poured into water with lemon juice.

Step 2:  Add the mixture to lemon juice and water.

    Ingredients being stirred.

Step 3: Stir to combine. Pour into a glass with ice.

    💭 Tip

You may want to start with less spice than I've listed. I like it spicy!

    👩🏻‍🍳 Recipe FAQs

Is store-bought lemon juice just as good as a real lemon?

Store-bought lemon juice has been pasteurized, which kills the nutrients. It also has additives. It doesn't have the health benefits that fresh lemon juice has, and it doesn't taste as good.

What is mint lemonade made of?

Mint lemonade is made with fresh lemon juice, water, fresh mint, and maple syrup. For this chipotle mint lemonade recipe, I added chipotle powder to add some spice.
