This healthy Vegan Orange Julius tastes like the original, but you can feel good about drinking it. It's basically an orange smoothie.
Have you seen the ingredients and nutritional information in an Orange Julius? There are a couple of ingredients that I can't pronounce and a few that I don't recognize.
To me, that's a sure sign of not-so-healthy food. The original isn't vegan since it has whey and egg white solids.
I haven't had an Orange Julius in over 30 years, so I don't remember exactly what it tastes like. I am going totally off of memory, and I had another person taste test this.
Not only is this a healthier version, but it also tastes really good. It tastes like an orange creamsicle smoothie. Orange and vanilla are a match made in heaven, and that's what this is.
I was inspired to make this homemade Orange Julius from a raw version that I made years ago. Even though that version also tastes like an Orange Julius, it is made with a juicer, which not everyone owns. I decided one made with a blender would be more accessible.

- This fruity drink comes together in minutes with simple ingredients.
- It tastes like the original, but it is a lot healthier. It's basically a healthy orange julius smoothie.
- It has the perfect balance of flavors.
๐งพ Ingredients
- Oranges: I used juiced fresh oranges, but you could also use store-bought orange juice. You could also some of the orange zest for extra orange flavor.
- Pineapple juice: You can either blend some fresh or frozen pineapple and strain any pulp or use store-bought pineapple juice.
- Almond milk: I like to use unsweetened almond milk to control the amount of sweetener, but you could use coconut milk, oat milk, soy milk, or any non-dairy milk you like.
- Vanilla extract: Enhances flavors. You could also use vanilla bean or vanilla bean paste.
- Maple syrup: Adds sweetness. You could also use agave syrup, coconut sugar, or date paste.
